‘Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan’ to hold Auditions at Upcoming West Coast Pet Expo

RIVERSIDE, CA – November 2, 2009 – The West Coast Pet Expo, to be held November 14-15, 2009 at the Pomona Fairplex, will include auditions for National Geographic’s popular television series the Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan.

Dog Whisperer producers will hold the auditions Sunday, November 15 at 2:00 pm. Those looking to audition need to bring a 5 to 7 minute video showcasing a variety of dog problems, including unusual phobias, obsessions, fearful behavior, aggression, or any other unique situations that Cesar could help transform. Personal pets are not permitted into the pet expo, only recorded videos will be accepted by the producers.

The West Coast Pet Expo is one of the largest gatherings of pet lovers on the West Coast, and features a family-friendly weekend packed with entertainment, demonstrations, seminars, animal shows, competitions, pet adoptions and the latest pet products.

West Coast Pet Expo announces its 2009 Pet Charity Partner

RIVERSIDE, CA. – September 1, 2009 – It is with great excitement and anticipation, that West Coast Pet Expos, LLC announces the winner of the 2009 Pet Charity Partnership. This year’s winner is the West End Shelter for Animals in Ontario, CA.

West Coast Pet Expos, LLC received more than 20 qualified applications and carefully reviewed each of them for content and criteria related to rescue efforts and accomplishments. Marti Michalis, Vice President of Operations said, “It was a difficult decision choosing one rescue group. West End Shelter sent a 31 page document detailing their accomplishments, goals, and expansion plans. Their Board of Directors showed us they were really serious about becoming the West Coast Pet Expo Pet Charity Partner. West End Shelter has been giving back to the community since 1954 and we are very proud to partner with them and to give something in return.”

Their shelter was chosen for many reasons including:
• They are a “no kill” shelter rescuing dogs and cats in the greater Inland Empire area.
• They offer low cost vaccination clinics every Tuesday and Saturday
• West End educates the public on the importance of spay/neuter
• They have provided 55 years of animal service to this community
• West End averages 800 adoptions per year and has placed more than 40,000 animals into “forever” homes
• They have a solid 5 year plan for building improvements and expansion

The announcement was made on Monday, August 31st to the Board of Directors at West End Shelter. “We are very thankful and just overwhelmed with excitement that you chose our shelter,” said Anne Linquist during a call with the executive board at West Coast Pet Expos.

The West Coast Pet Expo will take place November 14th and 15th at the Fairplex in Pomona.There is an expected attendance of 15,000-20,000 people. The Pet Expo includes entertainment, demonstrations, educational seminars, animal shows, pet adoptions, competitions, and fun for everyone.

Brewster Carries on the Memory of Gibson

RIVERSIDE, CA. - Aug. 18, 2009 – It was announced on August 7th that Gibson “The Worlds Tallest Dog” passed away at seven (7) years old from a type of bone cancer called Osteosarcoma. Gibson had his front leg amputated in April, however the cancer spread to other parts of his body.

Brewster, Gibson’s nephew and prodigy, has been making public appearances with him in recent months. Brewster is a Harlequin Great Dane with a genuine love for life. He stands 38” tall at the withers and is larger than Gibson was at the same age. Next year, he is expected to earn the title of Worlds Tallest Dog, by Guinness World Record.

Gibson was scheduled to appear at the West Coast Pet Expo on November 14th and 15th to meet his fans and share his story of recovery. “It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Gibson. He made huge strides in a short amount of time bringing global awareness to canine cancer. People as far away as China and the Netherlands were tracking Gibson’s recovery. We welcome Brewster at our event and look forward to watching him grow up,” said Marti Michalis, Vice President of Operations for West Coast Pet Expos.

Brewster will carry on the memory of Gibson by appearing at the West Coast Pet Expo and other events supporting Three Paws For The Cause. The goal is to create cancer awareness and to collect donations to support canine cancer research. Sandy Hall, Gibson’s owner, launched the initiative during Gibson’s battle with cancer. Brewster is the official ambassador for Three Paws For The Cause and will appear at events with Sandy Hall.

Goodbye Gibson, the World's Tallest Dog

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Gibson, “The Worlds Tallest Dog”. He was a beautiful 7 year old, Great Dane, with a big heart and gentle spirit. On August 7^th, 2009 he lost his battle with Osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer, and passed away peacefully with his family by his side.

Gibson appeared at recent events with Brewster, his nephew and prodigy. Brewster is a harlequin Great Dane with a love for life and a personality to match. *According to the Guinness World Records, Dogs must be 24 months old before they can qualify for Worlds Tallest Dog. Brewster is only 12 months old and is not yet eligible to receive the title.

Riverside, CA - August 11, 2009 - West Coast Pet Expos, LLC announced today a partnership opportunity at their upcoming expo, for a deserving pet charity. In an effort to realize their mission of "Bringing people, pets, and their communities together", West Coast Pet Expo will be accepting applications from all qualified rescue and adoption groups who are interested in becoming the official Pet Charity Partner for the expo.

All pet adoption and rescue groups are encouraged to apply to become the Pet Charity Partner for the 2009 West Coast Pet Expo. The application process is open and will continue through August 24th, 2009 with the winning charity announced August 31st. In addition to added exposure and raised awareness of the chosen charity, a portion of the West Coast Pet Expo pre-sale tickets and the proceeds from a two-day raffle during the expo will be donated to the West Coast Pet Expo’s Pet Charity Partner.

Christine Lombard, Director of Marketing for West Coast Pet Expos LLC, said "The idea came to us during a meeting with KFROG’s station manager. We wanted to do more than just showcase rescue groups at this event. We want to make a monetary contribution and give back to animals that need a permanent home and this idea accomplishes both."
